De-mining and Mine Action

Landmines and explosive remnants of war continue to pose a grave threat to human life, stability, and development across Syria. Decades of conflict have left behind a deadly legacy of contamination, endangering civilians, hindering safe return, and obstructing reconstruction efforts.

At Human Security Solutions (HSS), we view demining not only as a technical or humanitarian necessity, but as a critical component of human security and peacebuilding. The removal of explosive hazards is essential to restoring freedom of movement, reactivating agriculture and livelihoods, and creating the safe conditions necessary for social recovery and institutional rebuilding.

Our approach to mine action includes:

Supporting and collaborating with specialized demining teams and international agencies
Promoting mine risk education for vulnerable communities, including children, women, and displaced populations
Integrating demining into broader post-conflict recovery, DDR, and security sector reform (SSR) strategies
Advocating for the prioritization of clearance operations in areas of high civilian return and economic potential
Facilitating dialogue between affected communities and clearance actors to ensure locally informed action

We also emphasize the importance of accountability and documentation, particularly in areas where mines have been used as tools of terror or war crimes. Clearing mines is not only about safety—it is about justice and dignity for communities who have suffered in silence.

HSS works closely with local communities, humanitarian partners, and governance institutions to ensure de-mining efforts are inclusive, coordinated, and sustainable. Through mine action, we contribute to rebuilding trust, protecting lives, and opening the path to peace.

إزالة الألغام والعمل الإنساني في مجال المتفجرات

لا تزال الألغام الأرضية وبقايا الذخائر غير المنفجرة تمثل تهديدًا خطيرًا على حياة المدنيين، وعلى الاستقرار والتنمية في مختلف أنحاء سوريا. فسنوات الحرب الطويلة خلفت إرثًا مميتًا من التلوث بالألغام، مما يعرض السكان للخطر، ويعيق العودة الآمنة للنازحين، ويعطل جهود إعادة الإعمار والتنمية.

في حلول الأمن الإنساني (HSS)، نعتبر أن إزالة الألغام ليست فقط ضرورة فنية أو إنسانية، بل هي جزء أساسي من الأمن الإنساني وبناء السلام. إن تطهير الأراضي من المتفجرات يشكل خطوة حاسمة نحو استعادة حرية الحركة، وإحياء الزراعة وسبل العيش، وتوفير ظروف آمنة للتعافي الاجتماعي وبناء المؤسسات.

يرتكز عملنا في هذا المجال على عدة محاور:

دعم والتعاون مع فرق إزالة الألغام المتخصصة والمنظمات الدولية ذات الصلة
تعزيز التوعية بمخاطر الألغام في المجتمعات المتضررة، وخاصة بين الأطفال والنساء والعائدين
دمج جهود إزالة الألغام ضمن استراتيجيات أوسع للتعافي ما بعد النزاع، ونزع السلاح، وإصلاح القطاع الأمني
الدعوة لتخصيص أولويات إزالة الألغام في المناطق ذات الكثافة السكانية العالية أو الإمكانات الاقتصادية
تسهيل الحوار بين السكان المتضررين والجهات المنفذة لضمان أن تكون الاستجابات محلية وشاملة

نولي أيضًا أهمية كبيرة لـالتوثيق والمساءلة، لا سيما في المناطق التي استُخدمت فيها الألغام كأدوات للإرهاب أو جرائم الحرب. فإزالة الألغام ليست فقط مسألة أمن، بل أيضًا مسألة عدالة وكرامة للمجتمعات التي عانت بصمت.

تعمل HSS بالتنسيق مع المجتمعات المحلية، والشركاء الإنسانيين، والمؤسسات الحكومية لضمان أن تكون جهود إزالة الألغام شاملة ومستدامة وتراعي أولويات السكان. ومن خلال هذا العمل، نساهم في إنقاذ الأرواح، واستعادة الثقة، وفتح الطريق نحو السلام.
