Creative Leadership in Humanitarian Contexts Course

About the Program

The Creative Leadership in Humanitarian Contexts Course (CLHCC) was founded recently by humanitarian experts with international expertise, and as such has created a nucleus for disseminating knowledge and skills that are required for effective and creative leadership in humanitarian practices. Why ‘creative’? Because we need out-of-the-box-thinkers who know that there are different roads that lead to Rome, and who are willing to discover them with us, by taking up new challenges. The current state of the world with its ongoing conflicts requires a new method of learning, where we cross-train each other, and learn from the mistakes and best practices of participants. As such, CLHCC teaches (through lectures, cross-training each other, and expert hearings) mid-career and talented professionals the skills necessary for implementation of ideas, such as proposal writing and presentation skills, but it also works on empowerment of humanitarian experts to dare and make the change in their communities through projects. We learn through experiences: experiential learning is our main method. Our mission is to educate the leaders of tomorrow and create a platform for social and economic change, by being proactive and taking the future of our city in our own hands with new initiatives. We redesign the reality of today, for the solutions of tomorrow.

We are teaching and discussing the following skills:

  1. Proposal Writing Skills
  2. Networking/Social Capital Skills
  3. Conflict Resolution/Security Skills
  4. Time Management Skills
  5. Teamwork and Self-Care Skills
  6. Presentation/Communication Skills
  7. Effective Advising Skills
  8. Forecasting/Foresight Skills
  9. Authentic Leadership Skills
  10. General Project Management Skills

The goal of this Course is to Develop:

*Civic minded leaders where social capital (networks/trust/reciprocity) is worth much more than money as capital.
*Leadership competence and cultivate the potential of future leaders who can speak for their communities.
*Practical application on a grassroots-level and increase understanding of leadership roles in daily lives of the participants
*The skills needed to have a positive impact on your own society: ‘start small’-principle.
*A network-organization for our target group.

Mission of this Course:

  1. CLHCC’s function is to increase the value of human potential as a crucial factor in the socio-economic development, combat against poverty and social exclusion and support to personal development or self-accomplishment of the individual.
  2. CLHCC should be a group effort with shared responsibility of different social actors, where all participants may legitimately and efficiently partake in the dialogue and decision making regarding the Network Centre.
  3. Recognize ‘Empowerment and Leadership’ as an activity in public interest, which contributes to successful realization of societal goals, such as employment opportunities, active citizenship and peacebuilding.
  4. Building on traditions, values and common heritage, establish a contemporary Network Centre, based on lifelong learning, streamlined with our principles and standards, and experiences and best practices of other countries.
  5. Define aims and objectives of Leadership in the context of political and economical development (create social capital and active citizenship).
  6. The main goal of the Network Center: promote socio-economic cohesion and open up the Center towards labor and other influences, taking into consideration the demands and needs of the local, regional and broader social community and the needs of individuals and different target groups.
