Syria Talks: Voices from the Ground

Syria Talks is a unique program by Human Security Solutions (HSS) dedicated to interviewing key actors, amplifying local voices, and producing field-based reportages that offer deep insights into Syria’s evolving landscape of peace, security, and governance.

At a time when narratives are often politicized or silenced, Syria Talks brings authentic stories to the forefront—directly from those who live, shape, and survive the conflict and recovery. From interviews with former fighters, displaced families, civil society workers, and state officials, to investigative reportages from places like Daraa, Idlib, Hama, and the Syrian coast, this program delivers grounded perspectives that challenge assumptions and inform policy.

Through Syria Talks, we aim to:

Document local experiences of war, transition, and resilience
Share expert and community reflections on topics such as transitional justice, SSR, DDR, and reconciliation
Provide a platform for voices rarely heard—especially women, youth, and minorities
Foster critical debate and fact-based understanding among Syrian and international audiences
Support peacebuilding through storytelling and trusted information

The interviews and reportages are published in written, audio, and visual formats, with selected episodes translated into multiple languages. Syria Talks is both a journalistic and educational tool, vital for understanding Syria from within, and essential for those working toward a just and secure future.

أحاديث سوريا: أصوات من الميدان

“أحاديث سوريا” هو برنامج فريد من نوعه تطلقه حلول الأمن الإنساني (HSS)، يركّز على إجراء مقابلات ميدانية، وتوثيق قصص محلية، ونشر تقارير صحفية معمّقة تقدّم رؤى واقعية حول التحولات التي يشهدها المشهد السوري في مجالات السلام والأمن والحوكمة.

في زمن تُهمّش فيه السرديات المحلية، وتُسيس فيه الحقيقة، يسلّط “أحاديث سوريا” الضوء على أصوات من قلب المجتمع السوري – من مقاتلين سابقين، وعائلات نازحة، وناشطين، وموظفي دولة، إلى نساء رائدات وشباب من المجتمعات المهمّشة. ينقل البرنامج قصصًا ميدانية من مناطق مثل درعا، إدلب، حماة، والساحل السوري، ويعالج قضايا تمسّ جوهر المرحلة مثل العدالة الانتقالية، وإصلاح القطاع الأمني، ونزع السلاح، والمصالحة المجتمعية.

من خلال “أحاديث سوريا”، نسعى إلى:

يتم نشر المقابلات والتقارير بصيغ مكتوبة، صوتية، ومرئية، مع ترجمة مختارة للغات متعددة. ويُعدّ “أحاديث سوريا” أداة إعلامية وتعليمية في آنٍ معًا، وركيزة لفهم الداخل السوري، ورافعة للعمل نحو مستقبل أكثر عدالة وأمنًا.

Camilo Valderrama, a Colombian doctor who has worked for many years in war zones and other unfortunate regions in the world, became an eyewitness to the Syrian regime’s hospital attacks in North-West Syria. He decided to follow his fellow colleague’s who are still in Syria, but this time not with his scrubs as a doctor, but guarded with a camera aiming for accountability and justice for the 950 Syrian health workers who died in the attacks, and for the ones who are still alive now and seeking for justice.
